On the occasion of the 151st birthday of the Father of the Nation, MK Gandhi, SBI Foundation in collaboration with BAKDIL launched the new project GRAM SEVA in A’simgre under Dadenggre Block. Chief Guest Shri Ram Singh, DC WGH, unveiled the foundation stone in presence of various SBI Officials and other officers from different departments.
The project duration is three years and SBI Foundation has sanctioned approximately 2.43 Crores to invest in five villages under Dadenggre Block. These villages will be the model villages and for 3 to 5 years SBI foundation along with BAKDIL will monitor the growth and infrastructures of the village.
The key focus areas are digitization, sanitisation, skill development, education, infrastructure, livelihood, women empowerment, and waste management. Each village will be accommodated with community information centres with Wi-Fi connectivity which will bridge the gap between the underdeveloped areas and the urban areas. The project also aims to set up smart classrooms and computer education facility in schools thus upgrading the learning process of the students to catch up with urban learning process.
The program also promised to provide scholarships to the students those could not go for higher education because of financial problems.
While giving speech during the program, Shri Ram Singh, said that road connectivity should be put as a first priority to bring change in the society. He also informed that people are moving to town areas because of better infrastructure and better connectivity.
“People are shifting to urban areas just because there are better internet connectivity and better infrastructure,” Singh said. He also said that people change should come from within, if we need a road we shall make the road without waiting somebody else’s to make it for us.
The DC also promised that whichever roads under PMGSY scheme are pending will by looked over and will be completed in near future. Later he also urged the SBI Foundation to choose best entrepreneurs from the five model villages and nurture them to grow on their own feet.
“I would request SBIF to choose and nurture the best entrepreneurs to grow on their own feet by looking at which coming generations will find ways to replicate it in their own ways,” he said.
Shri S.F Hamid, IAS, SDO (Civil), Shri Madras Dkhar, DDM, NABARD, Fr. Nicholas were few among the esteemed guests present in the occasion.
