Two Days Training on Treadle Pump held at Karkutta Block.

Two days training on treadle pump was organized by BAKDIL under Integrated Tribal Development Project (ITDP) at Wa’ge A’si village under Karkutta block on 14 and 15 January 2020. Beneficiaries from different villages attended this training and learned how to operate this treadle pump and its maintenance.

The trainer from Mumbai  Vikash Kumar Jha, Founder and CEO, RuKart Technologies has shown real time demonstration of treadle pump. He also taught the villagers how to maintain the treadle pump and how to make it useful in day to day living. This treadle pump needs local repair which can be done with available local tools. He also challenged the farmers if they can keep these treadle pumps functioning for 3 to 6 months.

K. Sovita Devi, DDM NABARD, East and North Garo Hills, also present and encouraged the villagers to make a good use of it. She also demonstrates this pump to the farmers and urged them to do the needed caring in order to keep this pump functioning.

Under this project a total of 110 treadle pumps will be distributed among the 220 beneficiaries at cost, 1 treadle pump for two households. This project is funded by NABARD under Tribal Development Fund (TDF). Farmers can provide sufficient quantity of water supply to their crops with the help of treadle pump. This treadle pump can suck water from 20 ft. And it can deliver to 30ft inclined. Horizontally it can deliver water up to 300ft.

“This treadle pump will be of great use for us and with the help of this treadle pump we will be able to irrigate our crops and vegetables with sufficient quantity of water”, the villagers acclaimed with joy.
